A dollar (or so) and a dream

Sometimes I play the lottery.

I don’t play the scratch offs because I just can’t handle it. The way I see it, if I scratch off the numbers and they’re losers, somehow that makes ME responsible for my own failure. I have enough self-defeating issues to deal with as it is, I don’t need to add to it.

I play PowerBall every now and again, but I never pick the numbers myself. Again, it’s like the scratch offs, I don’t want to take responsibility for losing. At least this way I can blame it on “the man”.

So when I lose, it is because the force of the universe has decided I am not supposed to win. Somehow that’s easier to take than it being my own doing.

When I win a few dollars here and there it’s nice at first, but it’s at those times when my rationalizing the force of the universe backfires. Then the force is just being snarky, and I have to go about my regular day knowing the world is mocking me in it’s own little way.

When I do play PowerBall  I never do the “powerplay”.  Let’s face it, that’s just plain wasting money exponentially.
